Our pre-career training session is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and confidence needed to enter the workforce.
We support our clients through every step of the job search process — from preparing for interviews to securing the right position. Our team works closely with inclusive employers to match individuals with disabilities to roles that suit their skills, interests, and career goals.
Our commitment doesn't end after job placement. We provide ongoing follow-up support to ensure every individual settles comfortably into their new role.
05Social Security Administration
ACES is an approved Employment Network. Ticket to Work is free and voluntary for people ages 18 to 64 receiving SSDI or SSI — with a nine-month Trial Work Period that protects your income and healthcare while you try.
06Success stories
I had been searching for work for months without success. With ACES' help, I not only found a job but also one that matched my skills and interests. Their team guided me through the application process, prepared me for interviews, and supported me every step of the way.
As a parent, I can truly say that Mr. Nelson cared for my son as if he were his own brother, and that compassion made all the difference. My son worked at HomeGoods for three years, but when he lost his job due to transportation issues, I went back to Vocational Rehabilitation and specifically asked to work with Mr. Nelson again. He helped place my son in a new position that he now loves and sees as a true career opportunity, and he continues to grow in his independence.
ACES provided ongoing job coaching for one of our new hires, and it made all the difference. Their team made sure the transition went smoothly, and now we have a fantastic employee who's thriving in their role.
Before ACES, I wasn't sure what kind of job I could do. Through their pre-placement training and mentoring, I learned how to communicate better, practice interview skills, and build my confidence. Now I'm working part-time and planning for my future.

With an unwavering commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities, Lixon has made it his life's mission to help others achieve their full potential. Having faced the challenges of disability firsthand, he understands not only the importance of support but also the transformative power of others investing in personal growth. His own journey is a testament to perseverance and resilience, and it drives his passion to make a difference.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in the United States from the age of two, Lixon Nelson is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion and workforce equity. As Executive Director of ACES Miami, he has spent over a decade advancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities and underserved communities.
